Sweeton joins Orange Land Trust to promote preservation in Ulster

MOUNTAINVILLE – Retired Warwick Town Supervisor Mike Sweeton has joined the staff of the Orange County Land Trust.

In his part-time capacity, the recently retired town supervisor who served for 21 years, said a state grant will help him counsel Ulster County  in the state Farmland Protection Act.

“I’m going to work with Ulster County, meet with municipal and bring them up to speed on how it has worked for Warwick, what it means for their community, if there are questions the landowners have,” he said.

Sweeton said the Orange County Land Trust wants to be a resource for the Hudson

“Preserving land in turn preserves quality of life,” said Land Trust President Jim Delaune. “Areas with preserved farmland and wilderness are desirable for residents and homebuyers because it enhances home values, supports local agriculture, boosts tourism, and provides countless health benefit
