Red Ribbon Week in Orange County
GOSHEN – Orange County joined the Alcohol & Drug Awareness Council of Orane County and other community partners on Thursday for the county’s 34th annual Red Ribbon Week Kickoff Celebration at the Government Center in Goshen.
Red Ribbon Week serves as an opportunity for people and communities to unite, raise awareness and take a visible stand against drugs.
The Red Ribbon Campaign began in response to the 1985 murder of DEA agent Kiki Camarena by drug traffickers in Mexico City.
The tradition of displaying red ribbons as symbols of intolerance of the use of drugs continues today.
