When Sponsoring an Event or Small Business Is "WINNING" for Humanity

ree

This young man was enthralled talking to Gabe Laracuente

who was monitoring the Strike Hammer. Looks like his hat and

cape may have come from the same area of outer space as Gabe's suit. I

have no doubt the Event made the young boy's week!

Last week's giant "Witchingtonville" Event was a big win, and not just for the Village itself, but also gaves a special human touch for some of its participants. and remembering that Event would not have happened except for generous businesses who contributed, and of course the incredible hard work of the Event Committee.

This example is from the High Striker Hammer & Bell challenge where you slam the pedastal to ring a big bell. It was generously and suitably sponsored by "BODY BY JULI" (from her outstanding Fitness Center at Brotherhood Plaza...where Strength Training is one of their numerous exercise training choices.) Here are two samples of how a small thing like a circus challenge can make a surprisingly significant difference for someone, whether large or small, young or old.

Just watching the participants was a lot of fun. But the experience of these two constestants was special... what people these days call "Next Level".

Talk about STRENGTH! The adult in khakis approached it yielding the hammer like a warrior and slammed it mercilessly,, ringing be bell... probably louder than it has ever rung before. It appears that the crowd had an idea he might impress, considering that he attracted about 10 viewers for his SLAM. Kudos to him.

Gabe Laracuente had volunteered to monitor this challenge, wearing what can only be described as what might be a glittering Astronaut suit. When things

were a little quiet (rare that evening), he would grab the hammer and ring the bell, making it look like "Hey, its not that hard, maybe you can do it too", thus enticing additional challengers. He was able to ring the bell a surprising percentage of the time, which kept attracting more contestants.

So then comes this very young boy, clearly not going to be able to ring the bell, and maybe not even able to pick up the hammer. But like a father with a young

son, Gabe leaned over and spent some clearly special "quality time" with him, maybe talking about how winning is not everything, it's about doing one's best. Or maybe they were talking about their creative costumes. It may be that sharing time with an "Astronaut" was even more fun than ringing a bell

.

Watching the two of them was actually one of the 2 high points of the evening for me.
