Aleksandra at the front Shampoochie desk, welcoming a customer
Village of Washingtonville - Between this Winter's cold and rain and mud, we could all use some Springtime freshening up. These pups at Washingtonville's Shampoochie Salon have been bathed, trimmed, groomed, loved on, and bedecked with bows. They look like all they need is an Easter bonnet to be ready to join the Easter Parade.
Thanks to Aleksandra Sheynman and Alex Klyatis, salon owners who are the ultimate animal lovers, and their 3 groomers (Gracie, Stephanie and Christine), this new Salon which came to Washingtonville in 2023, dozens of area pups have already shed the mud and crud of 2024's beginning and look like they just came from a Hollywood Studio. The shop is gaining such a professional and caring reputation that not only are they pampering local pups of Orange County for Spring,, they have longtime devoted customers who continue to drive up to Washingtonville from Warwick and even the boroughs of New York City to make sure their pups get the kind of special Shampoochie care they have relied on for years. The couple has been married for 15 years and moved to the US as teenagers from Moldova (Aleks) and Alex (Russia). They have two children, an 11-year-old and a 5-year old. They hope to buy a home in this area before long, and Alex has already started learning about the Village by going to events ... I actually met him in the Village Hall parking lot when we both showed up at a Board Meeting mid-winter. The meeting had been canceled, so we stayed and chatted for a bit about what the Town of Blooming Grove and Village of Washingtonville are all about, and he asked to be kept in the loop of activities and meetings. Just like I could see at the Salon with their customers, meeting both Aleks and Alex was an experience in making an immediate friendship,
This Salon moved to its Washingtonville location in 2023 Not only are they experts at pet grooming, they will also do grooming at a dog's home and pet sitting when needed. And as they expand their shop in the right rear section of 25 South Street shops ( to the far right side rear), Alex is designing a new Play Room, and some other new additions including a panel of accessories, home grooming products and specialty safe chew bones in a variety of flavors.
Meanwhile, always eager to know more about the animals they care for, Aleks is taking courses in Canine Training for future classes in a range of Canine Behavior. And in the future there just may be a Beginners' Agility Course, because the best way to stay healthy is to keep staying fit with a variety of different kinds of exercise, and keeping an alert mind by learning new challenges. And of course that's true for both dogs and people.
As the warm Springtime weather comes in, it means lots more outdoor playtime for our furever friends. But it also brings dirt, tangles and a few overgrown pet toenails as well. Let Shampoochie take intensive gooming off your busy agenda, and move muddy home baths to the Salon that is made for it. Your house, your dog, and your sense of well-being will thank you. The pictures below happen to be of mostly small and mid-sized pups, but Shampoochie grooms plenty of large dogs as well. When I stopped by the shop this week there was a tiny pup that was kind of nervous to have her nails clipped. Aleksandra held her in her arms for a few minutes, reassuring her that all would be fine. Next, "Gigi", who is high energy, was getting a full trim. Gracie took extra time with her and you can see by her expression Gigi is like "Hmm.. ok, I can do this!".

Some pretty adornments for all the good companion pups
Next a very large Poodle strutted out of the bathing area, proud as punch of her new look. Every customer while I was there showed they were already good friends with x and were eager to set up a date for their next grooming session. And you can even pre-book a session online at their Facebook page, www.ShampoochieSalon.com.

Oh, and by the way, Shampoochie Groomers Gracie, Stephanie and Christine, just like Aleks and Alex, are not only talented professionals, they have the patience of a saint.. because they just love dogs! And of course every pup was sent home with a beautiful Spring Bow, Tie, or Bandana...because, well..they looked great, were well-behaved so Why Not!
All that, and prices are very reasonable. See more of their pups on their Shampoochie Salon Facebook page and website wwwShampoochiesalon.com.
