Mayor Tom Devinko with Washingtonville Village Clerk, Christine Shenkman showing a few of their favorite Spring Projects - Planting Memorial Blossoming trees along Ahern Blvd. and Flags for Heroes.
With Event Home Base at McLaughlin Commons, the Village Center and was a busy place on Saturday. Girl Scouts were there with their cookie sales, a variety of music near some brand new picnic tables gave new thoughts toward outdoor dining. Irish dancing was back with the younger set displaying their amazing footwork. F&J's brought the grill out for some serious tummy filling, and Justine and the Guilty Pleasures crew had ridiculously tempting desserts ready to go...as did Isabeli Gelati. There was more! So much more! Jewelry and Handmade Flower Accessories, What a girl wants' Sidewalk Sale, a Bounce House, Nationwide Insurance Info, and importantly tables with the Washingtonville Comprehensive Plan and Architectural Review Committee members as well as Planner Bonnie Franson. Questions anyone?

Officials were ready and happy to give residents information about how
the Village's Comprehensive Plan is coming along.
Meanwhile, about a mile North of Village Center there began "some Yard Sales". Well if you ever heard of the Springtime Yard Sales down South that go through almost 2 states along a main highway, it was kinda like that. From Brotherhood Plaza to beyond Walden Savings it was practically a mile and a half block party.
And when Washingtonville has a Yard Sale it is indeed more like a block party, many visitors using it as an opportunity to catch up wih old friends and meet some new ones. It went on for 2 days, and at the same time there was a 5K run and teams of residents out packing the Spring Clean-up yellow bags with miscellaneous trash (while saving a little time to mow their own lawns and tend to the budding Spring flowers at home, now that Spring is showing its colors.
But another Community Day full of memories has some new participants, and this year one of those is the Sheahan-Gormley School of Irish Dance, and this time it's a few of the adorable youngest dancers showing their skills.
