Blooming Grove - If you live in the areas of Route 94 near Craigville, Oxford and Round Hill Roads, chances are you have heard more police sirens related to traffic stops this past week. A deadly motorcycle crash killing 2 riders in front of the Sears-Howell Red Barn and chronic Summertime evening speeding were followed by a second serious accident on Oxford Road and then a third serious accident on Craigville Rd. within days.
Blooming Grove Police erected at least one speed monitor device. It does not function to issue tickets, rather to give the Police Department an accurate measure of just how many individuals are speeding. After posting and then taking down a small black box high on a telephone pole, an officer said he could not say exactly how many speeders were clocked until the figures were done being processed, "BUT THERE WERE PLENTTY!".
Whether the increase in speeding is a "last hurrah of Summer", distractions, an overall escape from worries of world conditions, or whatever reason, 2 people are dead and a 3rd hospitalized with a serious back injury. Needless to say the families and friends of these accident victims, and others viewing the tragedies, are not having a fun end of Summer.
If you like to race and/or take chances.... then talk to some of the professional racers in our area. They can give you tips on where to go and have fun and race legally, rather than putting yours and other people's lives at risk. And besides, local police are on high alert, and if you lose your licence that will definitely not be fun.
