UPDATE - Goshen Track - as of 11:50am, Saturday & Sunday Racing is Still On! -Post time 1pm . Friday's Goshen Harness Event WAS Canceled

As of 11:45 today and tomorrows races are posted as ON...with a post time of 1pm.! However, 2 people out of 10 on a Harness Racing page said they believed today may be canceled with 1pm forecast of 90 degrees. But the main Goshen Track Page still has it listed as ON! Saratoga racing is also as of now listed as ON.

We are sure that if races proceed today the horses will receive lots of extra TLC... and fortunately the race itself only lasts for a few minutes.

We applaud the Goshen Track for caring enough about the safety and health of the horses to cancel this week's NY Sire Stakes Country Fair Holiday Race that had been scheduled for Friday, July 3.

American horses have already been "through the mill" this year, with controversies over management of our Historic Wild Horse Lands and Roundups, a NYC Central Park tragedy when a horse was spooked (reason still not disclosed) that resulted in a tourist's death, and the very tragic loss of 17 of 18 horses at a Saratoga Casino due to a fire earlier this month.

As a historic track and this being one of the big events of the year, this might have felt heartbreaking.... except that this heroic horse community knows what really matters and can stand tall having protected the health and lives of their equines.

When September 6 comes and the Track holds its Fall Festival let's all show up and make it clear that we care about the Harness Racing Community - its Drivers, Owners, and of course their beautiful racing steeds.
