Five Foot Creative Baker With a BA in Entrepreneurship & Baking

She may be known as the “Five Foot Baker", but don’t let that fool you. Jillian Gonzalez is packed with energy, education (graduate of Johnson-Wales University, with majors in Entrepreneurship and Bakery skills). She has a yearning for creative baking designs, learning and experimenting with new ideas for her craft, and loves the sense of working with her hands.

We talked about some potential areas for growth for the sweet building tucked behind Washingtonville Pharmacy, to help make this new business more visible, since it is tucked back behind Washingtonville Pharmacy, and we agreed that as the shop gets busy a few added amenities like some chairs and small coffee tables around both the interior and outside will enhance the sense of welcoming.

When I looked through the offerings on her Facebook Page, the recipe shown for a new cupcake was so enticing that I felt like I needed one after reading the ingredients. Yes, Jillian is an "Ingredient Artist" as well as her baked goods, and they are all beautifully designed.

"New to the cupcake case is lemon blueberry-lemon cake with fresh blueberries throughout, topped with lemon buttercream and a blueberry."

Jillian began baking with her dad when she was about 10 years old, and also practiced with her aunt. Now that she has the skills she can't wait to see what comes next, especially with the entrepreneurship part. She is working hard to become well known, not just in her awesome home town but throughout the Valley. With Washingtonville High School and Middle School right next door, her beautiful little cottage shop behind the Pharmacy is already a big hit with the teens when they are done with their school day, and she honestly has some of the best parking in the Village, and even a small potential event area. We also talked about the possibility of putting up a bright Flag by the Main Street sidewalk (with an arrow -Five-foot Bakery Shop Now Open). Then there will be mailings, coupons and customers that will become new friends every week. So if you are in the Village shopping or driving through one of the best known historic intersections in Orange County (Route 94 and Route 208), slow down when you get to the High School and Veterans Park. You can pull in the driveway of 32 E. Main Street or park at Veterans Park and walk across E. Main Street. Keep an eye out for Jillian elsewhere as well. As she expands her variety of baked goods you will see her at more and more area Event Venues.
