One more day until it is Small Business Saturday in the Village of Washingtonville, and folks have been working really hard to get ready to showcase all of their work this year, meet new people and make them happy customers.

So come on by! There is ample parking in the Village Parking lot accessed just before the 208/94 intersection and if the village gets crazy busy there is always additional parking in the Washingtonville High School lot on Route 94, just two blocks West.

Then next Saturday, Dec. 6, we will see the results of Washingtonville’s Event Committee in full throttle. One of the ways you can tell how much of an extraordinary day it’s going to be is to see them in action at their November Event Coordinating Meeting. This was just one of the meetings they held to make sure all of the event groups were still poised to perform, had all of their paperwork for a permit, insurance and participation payment taken care of. And if any space was still available who might step up to fill it. There are costumes and props to build. Then there at the 70 advertising places to promote it, meetings with the Blooming Grove Chamber of Commerce Parade Committee, DPW, Washingtonville and Blooming Grove Police Departments to be kept up to date about which of all the activities is going to be held where and how the shuttle can be best used to facilitate attendance by seniors.  And of all the businesses along Main Street? How will each of them be participate? Just

who is going to go by on a big exciting float (which, by the way, several county officials have been invited to assess from the Judges Stand).

with Mayor Tom DeVinko, Village DPW and Village Police Dept. hard at work!

Now look ant the faces of the Committee members. Do they look overwhelmed or nervous about ‘getting it done?’. Not in the least! This is not their ‘first rodeo'. They took a few short breaks, laughing and reminiscing about previous years’ celebrations. They are passionate and seasoned and love the work they do to make the season merry and bright for all.

And of course last but certainly not least, discussing the decorations on Main Street and McLaughlin Square for the pinnacle of the Event, the lighting of the Washingtonville Christmas Tree when the Parade ends at the Village Center..

So let's give all of our restaurants and shopkeepers some love at tomorrow's Small Business Saturday, and if you see any committee members in town, show them some love too, they’ve certainly earned it!
