NY18 Candidate Assemblyman Colin Schmitt-TWO more illegal migrant flights Into Orange County Airport

MONTGOMERY, NY — New York State Assemblyman and candidate for New York’s 18th Congressional District, Colin Schmitt (R-New Windsor), released the following statement after joining Orange County and local elected officials, along with law enforcement at Orange County Airport as two flights arrived carrying migrants from El Paso, TX. The buses are traveling to Poughkeepsie, NY (Dutchess County) and Kingston, NY (Ulster County) to drop off migrants from the flights, as confirmed on the ground by the federal contractors.

“I joined with Orange County and local officials at Orange County Airport in Montgomery this evening to get to the bottom of these secret migrant flights sent by the Biden administration arriving right here in our backyard. After observing these secret flights and operations up close I now have more questions than answers. Once again no advanced notice was given to local or county officials of these two flights coming in until they landed,” said Assemblyman Colin J. Schmitt. “These flights are exporting the border crisis to our backyards. Joe Biden and Pat Ryan are allowing these secret flights to happen. It is unacceptable and must stop.”

Schmitt continued, “Based on Information provided by federal contractors the migrants unloaded from the planes onto unmarked buses, with all windows covered, were being dropped off first in Poughkeepsie in Dutchess County and Kingston in Ulster County, followed by New York City.”

Schmitt concluded, “Joe Biden and Pat Ryan blocked our local law enforcement and health officials from being notified about these arriving flights. The continuation of these flights is unacceptable. We do not need AWOL federal officials. I am on the ground working to keep our communities safe and informed. As Congressman I will end these flights.“

Just a few weeks ago, Assemblyman Schmitt joined Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) to tour the US-Mexico border in El Paso, TX. During the tour, Assemblyman Schmitt focused on the national security and humanitarian issues ongoing at the border that impacts the Hudson Valley due to the ongoing fentanyl crisis and the migrant flights being flown into Stewart International Airport and Westchester County Airport, and now, Orange County Airport. Schmitt’s trip was privately funded, with no tax dollars utilized.
