TOWN OF NEWBURGH POLICE DEPARTMENT

On August 9th, 2023 at approximately 11:00pm, Town of Newburgh Police responded to an automobile accident on Rt 9W in the Town of Newburgh. Police found a 2005 Lexus that was involved in a one car rollover accident. Preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was travelling s/b Rt 9W, being driven by Michael Tornatore, 66 yrs old of the Town of Newburgh. It appears the Lexus crossed into the opposite lane of travel, struck a guard rail and came to rest on an embankment. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was treated at the scene and transported to St Lukes hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. While the accident is still being investigated, there does not appear to be any criminality at this time
