Kingston – Jen Metzger was selected on Saturday to run for the open Ulster County executive seat following Pat Ryan’s election to the United States House of Representatives during a special election last month. Metzger garnered 64 percent of the vote.
The Ulster County Democratic Committee gathered at Kingston City Hall for a nominating convention to choose either Ulster County Comptroller March Gallagher, Metzger, a former New York state senator, or Marc Ryder, a deputy county executive.
“We can win all of these races if we do the work,” said Metzger, of the upcoming November general election races. “As I have said, democracy only happens if people show up. Thank you all again, and I can't wait to work with all of you.” The convention was open to members of the Ulster County Democratic Committee and the public was invited to observe.
Following a vote to elect, county Democratic committee members, local committee members, from the city and towns, voted to endorse Metzger to serve out the remainder of Ryan term through Dec. 31, 2023. Metzger was a one-term state senator. Source: Mid-Hudson New
