Congressman Ryan at Boys and Girls Club in the City of Newburgh
District 18 - Nearly $17 million is headed to organizations in the 18th Congressional District following the House’s approval of a new spending bill that will provide critical support for community projects. The funds, secured by Congressman Pat Ryan, will be used to expand youth programming, equip fire departments, house veterans, and bolster local, family farms, according to the Congressman’s office.
“All of these organizations are hugely impactful in their service to Hudson Valley families – they go above and beyond every day to help our communities thrive. It’s my honor to deliver critically-needed support to those serving and strengthening the Hudson Valley,” Ryan said.
In Orange County, $4.1 million will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Newburgh to rehabilitate several currently unused sections of their facility. The Rumshock Village Veterans Project in Port Jervis was granted $1 million to build ten one bedroom one bathroom houses for homeless veterans. The City of Middletown, Village of Warwick, and the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson will each receive almost $1 million for water infrastructure improvements, and the Village of Kiryas Joel is set to receive $2 million to assist with the expense associated with tapping into the New York City aqueduct. Finally, both the Otisville 4-H and the Chester Agricultural Center both received $1 million.
In Dutchess County, the Rifton and Tivoli Fire Departments each received $500,000 and the Youth Opportunity Union is set to re-develop the approximately 3.35-acre site of the former Dutchess YMCA in the City of Poughkeepsie with a grant of $1 million. Family Services also received $1 million with which it will conduct facility improvements. The Village of Millerton and Town of Wappingers also each received around $1 million for water infrastructure improvements.
“The impact these organizations have already had on our communities is undeniable, and I’m proud to deliver these resources to expand their reach and uplift even more lives,” concluded Ryan.
