ELECTION IRREGULARITIES? - Most residents said they had no idea the
Village had decided to vote that night, nor was it even announced at the previous Village Meeting. Residents called both Senator James Skoufis and the New York Attorney General's Office outraged. The Village responded that they had sent a legal notice to The Warwick Advertiser (which few if any Village residents read.)
After being contacted about the 'irregularities', Senator Skoufis sent out the following Press Release, promising to investigate.
Press Release - Senator James Skoufis 10/28/25
“I am deeply concerned by recent reports of irregularities in South Blooming Grove’s October 22 village election. In light of these reports, I have issued an information and document request to local officials and urge their full cooperation as we pursue answers on behalf of voters.
“Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy. As New Yorkers head to the polls this week and next to elect local leaders, any attempt to subvert their will strips away this fundamental American right.
I urge any South Blooming Grove neighbors with information about the October 22 village election to immediately contact my office.”
James Skoufis represents the 42nd District in the New York State Senate and serves as Chairman of the Committee on Investigations and Government Operations.
