Chief Kevin Wakeham was surrounded by fellow Police Department friends and co-workers on August 8th as he took his final walkout having stepped up the ranks from NYPD Officer to Chief of Blooming Grove Police over 20 years. His daily easy going and congenial way brought many years of smiles and friendship, but everyone knew that beneath the smiles he was a no-nonsense cop with zero tolerance for crime. His time in the Blooming Grove PD brought included some major changes, including New York's multi-year "Reinvent Police" program with the community and special accreditation, several years of highly technical specialized training for several team members,, and last year's addition of a K-9 Unit. He had the benefit of years of leadership working under Chief Carl Schupp (right), and then Chief Alex Melchiore (left) who has now returned to once again fill the "top cop" charge of "Chief".
