Both Rocklabd County's County's Executive Ed Day and Orange County's
Steve Neuhaus were shocked at the announcement that additional
busloads of migrants are being sent without their knowledge or participation in planning, as was Town of Newburgh's Supevisor Gil Piaquadio. Ed Day went
as far as to declare a State of Emergency.
On Friday, Day announced "Extreme actions warrant extreme measures. I warned the NYC Mayor that if you try to run us down we will reach up and grab you by the throat. This State of Emergency declaration is the first of its kind in an inter municipal scenario and the hotel and any City personnel will be looking at the potential of arrest and/or daily fines of nearly $70,000 for violations of this edict. I promised that Rockland would not yield so here we are. No wavering and no retreat.:

(A portion of the announcement by Ed Day...more on his Facebook page.)
At the same time, in Orange Couty, according to Mid-Hudson News, CE Steve NeuHAUS and Town of Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio reacted to planss to settle another busload of migrantsto to Orange County:
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus and Newburgh Town Supervisor Gil Piaquadio Friday criticized the “lack of planning” by the federal government upon receiving word that a busload of asylum seekers would be sent to the Orange Lake area of Newburgh.
The two Republicans were informed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams that the Big Apple would be sending approximately 60 single men to be housed temporarily in a hotel.
Neuhaus and Piaquadio both have questions about “who these immigrants are and remain concerned if they were properly vetted. It is another example of the federal government’s failed immigration policy and inability to control the border.”
Piaquadio was critical of the location chosen as it has no resources within walking distance.
He asked the mayor to delay sending the men to his town. Adams said he would hold off but did not offer a timetable. “We need questions answered about zoning, logistics, and who the individuals actually are.”
