The Village of Washingtonville reached a new level of professional entertainment this week with its presentation of the “Almost Floyd” band at Vern Allen Park on Saturday, already more than doubling an appreciative audience of about 200 in this brand new Summer Music Series.
The band’s production was just incredible, with each music selection transporting listeners to a time of mesmerizing reverie on a perfect evening with a hint of Fall breeze. The swirling lights and wafting mist dazzled with the musical renditions of Pink Floyd songs from a time when rock bands with electric guitars were newly in vogue and made every moment feel like a new piece of history.

Mellow and upbeat songs played to a captivated crowd with a few singing and swaying with the music. A family was gathered around their picnic blanket watching their infant crawling and then making several attempts to stand (possibly for the first time), while couples held hands and a pretty teenager did a long line of perfect impromptu cartwheels across the Park lawn. It was a vintage Washingtonville evening. And YES, a young lady's poodle was watching the show glowing in pretty pink.

Food trucks offered "The Best Yummy Shakes" and "CRAVE NY Crispy Wings", while up near the new bandstand Guilty Pleasures offered the Hudson Valley’s absolutely best warm cinnamon donuts!

Kudos once again to the Washingtonville Event Committee for organizing this event, to the amazing Almost Floyd Band, and to Ken Kroog who recently built the Park's new Bandstand.
Fortunately Almost Floyd is a relatively local group, and from the reception their show received its pretty much guaranteed that Washingtonville will be seeing a lot more of them, and that this Music in the Park Series will be back for another Season in 2026.
