Youth Team Sports Grant Proposals Sought By Orange County Government

EMPOWERING FUTURE ATHLETES

Whether it's Soccer, Bowling, Equestrian Draft Horse Driving or Cross-Country. You name it! Orange County is eager to help the young become involved in Team Sports. Someone posted this morning in local social media that they were wondering if their village had any Youth Bowling League. Well, here's an opportunity to seek support for that, or ANY youth sport team!

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus has announced that the Orange County Youth Bureau (OCYB) is currently seeking applications for New York State’s new Youth Team Sports (YTS) grant program.

The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) will fund awards of approximately $219,000 to eligible, local, community-based organizations and nonprofits. Funding is available in grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 per request. These grants will provide opportunities for youth under 18 years of age, in under-resourced communities, to learn and participate in team sports activities.

“My four children participate in a variety of sports, and I see firsthand the value of being a part of something that promotes positive development, teamwork, and health and fitness,” said Neuhaus. “I’m glad this funding is available to help new sports programs to begin and successful programs to continue.”

Eligible for this funding are not-for-profits, including, but not limited to, secular and faith-based organizations, partnerships, or consortia operating throughout the County. Organizations that have never received funding through the OCYB are also encouraged to apply in this request for proposal (RFP). Programming and/or services must be provided within Orange County, apart from very limited travel, with prior approval by the OCYB.

Proposals are available under the “Funding and Forms” tab on the OCYB website at: www.orangecountygov.com/youthbureau and are also available on the Empire State Bid System at http://www.empirestatebidsystem.com.

The Orange County Department of General Services (OCDGS) will be the ONLY point of contact for applications during the submission process until the start of the proposal review process.

  • Proposals submitted to the OCYB will NOT be accepted as they need to be sent directly to OCDGS.

  • ALL inquiries about the RFP must be directed to the OCDGS, in writing, by either email to generalservices@orangecountygov.com or faxed to (845) 378-2365.

  • Answers will be compiled and posted for all to access in one addendum. Anyone contacting the Youth Bureau directly WILL be redirected to OCDGS. (This is to comply with State Finance Law.)

  • After the OCDGS audits proposals for all required attachments, they will be given to the OCYB to follow the proposal review process.

Projected Timetable of Key Events

  • Proposals Due: 8/27/2024 4:00 PM EDT

Late proposals WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

  • Competitive Awards Announced (tentative): 10/4/2024

  • Anticipated Contract Start: 10/4/2024

  • End Date: 9/30/2025

"We are excited to have another year of Youth Team Sports funding from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services,” said OCYB Director Rachel Wilson. “This new funding has allowed for enhanced programming for children and youth who are currently underrepresented in team sports. It has also provided much-needed funding to develop additional adaptive sports opportunities in the County. We look forward to continuing and expanding these opportunities with this next round of funding."
