One fourth grader class at Taft Elementary School had a special visitor last week. Samantha Mynio, senior at Washingtonville High School, visited Mrs. Sullivan’s class on Friday, February 3, 2023, to teach them about race walking. Samantha is the number one race walker in the nation.
“I really enjoyed being able to give back to the younger generation and show them what race walking is, because they seemed to have a lot of fun with it and it was super cool being able to introduce them to something they’ve never seen before,” said Samantha. “The students seemed to really enjoy learning and I’m glad I had the opportunity to teach them something new in a fun, interactive way.”
The entire class participated in a race walk competition alongside Samantha where they were able to take the new skill they learned and test it out.
