Both the Village of Washingtonville's Artisan Fair and its first Night of Music and Karaoke at Very Allen Park brought crowds (according to Mayor DeVinko about 80-100 people came to Village's first Music Night last Saturday night at Vern Allen Park, and at least during a small part of it were "Singing in the Rain"). I spoke to one couple at the Artisan Fair and they said they didn't think their voices were that great, but had a good time and will be back to try singing at the Park again this Saturday, understanding that Practice Makes Perfect... with singing just as much as with everything else. Even more importantly, residents were able to have a great time this past weekend in their own community. Yard sales did well too, with the weather cooperating other than one short spell of sprinkles.
The contributions, including months of hard work by Patrick and Justine Maiorino of the "Guilty Pleasures" delicious delicacies, and the other members of the Washingtonville Event Committee made this past weekend a huge success, both for both local residents and the businesses that participated. And
this is just the beginning
More music Saturdays are coming - Continuing this coming Music Saturday, September 20 with "Summer of '96' 70's, 80's and 90's Rock (plus Karaoke).. Then on Saturday the 27th from 5PM through 8pm we'lll be listening to "Almost Floyd" and more Karaoke. Come join the fun....Your singing will not be scored (yet).

CRAFTERS GALOR AT SUNDAY'S WASHINGTONVILLE ARTISANS FAIR
Veterans Square was filled with by far the best designed Artisan Crafter treasures here yet, and a steady stream of customers making good use of the offerings. Tent after tent, and table after table had beautiful handmade goods, whether knitted, or beautiful resin trays and keepsakes, lots of homemade scented soaps, and a pile of free books for children. These crafters are making a name for themselves as they learn to build enticing backdrops, backup literature in brochures and business cards, and a camaraderie with shoppers.
Just how many successful merchants were there? Well, sharing their tents and merchandise just might require a Part I and Part 2 so you can get a good look at the lovely artisan treasures in this part of the Valley.
Below - A few of my favorites from Sunday. Keep an eye open for these independent businesses, they are so hardworking are doing a tremendous job and give a picture of the character and style of our community and they will surely be at other crafter fairs in the coming weeks.
