Village of Washingtonville Has a New Detective, and a New Police Contract

7/21/25 - At tonight's Village Board Meeting, Officer Michael Levy was promoted to Detective Michael Levy, with family, friends, and members of the Washingtonville Police Department in attendance. Levy was sworn in by Village Clerk, Christine Shenkman. He then had photographs taken with his wife, and with his young son holding the new badge proudly with his dad.

In addition to a new Detective the Village announced a new Police Contract with Chief Brian Zaccaro through February 28, 2029. The Police Department also received news that a grant for 2 new police cars is almost done. Mayor Tom DeVinko said that one of the older police cars that is being replaced will be able to be an extra vehicle for the Village.
Other news included a resolution to hire Millennium Grant Writers to apply for grants including a Vacuum Truck as well as an $800k grant for development of Sewell Park.
