We should all mourn this tragic death, the poor sick soul that committed murder, and the poisonous anger and vitriol in the current American political sphere.May God bless and preserve his soul, and heal those consumed with hatred. Love of fellow man and educated discourse between those with different opinions and beliefs is the cornerstone of our democracy, as well as of almost all religions. It may be said in different ways, but the call of most religions includes the Christian call "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself". This command is the "second great commandment" .

Goshen held a beautiful vigil for Charlie Kirk last night. The Village of Washingtonville also plans to hold a Candlelight Vigil Prayer tomorrow night, Wednesday, September 17 at Firemen’s Memorial Park from 7-8 PM.

We must open our minds to the thoughts and hearts of others, different people with different views, in a valiant effort to find middle ground. Otherwise we will never find lasting peace. As basically a staunch "Centrist", last week I watched a 6-month old almost hour long interview/podcast between a left-leaning well known democrat and Charlie Kirk. In the interview I got a close look at Charlie Kirk's humanity and the reasoning behind his points of view. I developed a lot of respect and strong liking for him.... in spite of some differences on a few issues, and without losing respect and liking for the interviewer. They found middle ground and made encouraging progress. It can be done. It must be done ...for a safe and brighter tomorrow.

I am truly saddened by his loss.

Note: Unfortunately there is an extremely important public meeting scheduled in Blooming Grove for the same time as tomorrow night's vigil ... a first Public Scoping on a major development, (impacting myself and many others, since it borders my property) so I and some others will not be able to attend Washingtonville's Vigil. But my heart will be with those who are there to mourn!

These three things in human life are important.

The first is to be kind,

The second to be kind,

and the third is to be kind.
