Skoufis Responds to OCIDA’s Legal Threat to Oust Independent Monitor

“This week, the Orange County IDA authorized their legal counsel to do ‘anything and everything’ to rid them of the independent state monitor. The same monitor whose most recent report turned up hundreds of promised jobs that simply never materialized, and who vetoed their deal that would have taken millions in tax dollars from our community and schools in favor of Amazon, a trillion dollar corporation. 

“The Orange County IDA is a complete trainwreck of an agency. They should be thanking the state monitor for bringing to light the job creation failures the IDA failed to track – a basic, fundamental obligation of the agency. Instead, they continue to arrogantly spend six-figures in public funds to do away with their accountability and oversight. In lieu of acknowledging the hole they find themselves in and putting down the shovel, they continue to dig deeper, light taxpayer funds on fire, embarrassing themselves in the process with frivolous lawsuits. I welcome the opportunity to present testimony in court and look forward to further demonstrating the Orange County IDA’s dereliction of duty to local taxpayers.”
