Skoufis and Wojehowski Announce Completion of Town Playground Following $400k Senate Grant

Senator James Skoufis (D-Orange County) joined Cornwall Town Supervisor Josh Wojehowski and members of the town board to celebrate the completion of the Riverlight Park playground. Made possible through $400,000 secured through Senator Skoufis’ office, installation of the equipment started in October and was completed just days ago.

Upgrades were clearly necessary as the previous playground at Riverlight Park became a safety hazard with broken equipment and degrading structures. Landscape Structures provided the equipment and design while installation was done by Parkitects. The new playground is ADA accessible and offers significantly enhanced recreation compared to the prior equipment.

“When our towns are great places to raise kids, families stay and put down roots,” said Senator Skoufis. “I’m grateful to have local partners like Supervisor Wojehowski and the town board, all of whom locally developed this project. Investing in our communities always pays dividends, and this playground will benefit the kids of Cornwall for years to come.”

“After many years without significant upgrades, the Town of Cornwall is moving forward with thoughtful planning and renewed investment in our parks and recreation infrastructure,” said Supervisor Wojehowski. “Thanks to $400,000 in capital funding from State Senator Skoufis — and valuable guidance from the Cornwall Recreation Advisory Committee — we were able to design, procure, and install a new playground that children of all abilities can enjoy. And importantly, this improvement was achieved with minimal impact on local taxpayers.”
