Reminder of the Gracious Gifts of Senator Bill Larkin

With a little help from our website's "Remembering Program", we recall the hard work and generosity of Senator Bill Larkin. Just about a year before his death at 91, on August 31, 2019, Senator Larkin met with grateful members of the Blooming Grove Community, Supervisor Rob Jeroloman and Washingtonville Mayor Tom DeVinko and Highway Superintendant Wayne Kirkpatrick with a check for $444,000 from the NY Municipal Facilities Program, administered by the Dormitory of New York, a hefty Grant to purchase a dump truck and a vehicle for the Town's Ambulance Department. That grant follows another big check he brought to Washingtonville, Blooming Grove and South Blooming Grove in 2016 for a $500,000 Street Sweeper.

Larkin commented on how much he appreciated all of the benefits these municiopalites receive because of the shared highway equipment and shared services they make use of. When Supervisor Jeroloman thanked him for the check Larkin humbly responded, "It's not really mine to give. It belongs to the Community and we are returning it to them".

We remember Senator Larkin for his many years of service, gifts and dedicated work providing Orange County with appropriations that were always on their list of important needs, and including the very important Newburgh Armory, and always with a bipartisan attitude and the best for the people in mind.
