Rain & Sweltering Heat - No Problem for FOP Saturday Car Show Benefit for A Law Enforcement Memorial Wall

Updated: 3 days ago

If anyone thought a rainy morning would dissuade car, truck and bike enthusiasts from polishing up their 1930's historic cars and bringing them to the Goshen Fire Training Center, they were very wrong. An enthusiastic group of participants and visitors reveled in the picnic atmosphere with a much appreciated cool breeze while the thermometer fought the breeze, climbing upward into the 90's.

Some almost lifesized ponies welcomed visitors to Standfast Alliance, which fosters resilience, confidence and well-being in participants while opening the world of horses to first responders, military personnel and families dealing with occupational stress. They provide training through educational workshops and peer coaching programs. (See them at www.Standfast.org )

Shady Trees and a nice breeze saved the day, along with people who really came prepared to beat the heat..

The afternoon of dedicated First Responders and vehicle enthusiasts (whether a 1932 bright red truck, a souped up slick Caddy, a scary black Avenger style motercycle and a beast called "The Punisher" were there to raise money for an Orange County Law Enforcement Memorial Wall. Meanwhile, "Pumpkin", the spectacular giant chestnut horse worked the crowds throughout the day, ridden by Officer Mary Elena Moran who retrains rescue horses for police work, trauma rehabilitation and parades.

Editor's Transportation Choice - Mary Elena Moran and Pumpkin get my top commendation for her incredible skill and the dozens of horses she has rescued and trained to be the best pollice horses in the region! Mary Elena is a powerhouse with her ability to transport people under extreme stress to a place of balance and joy.

At the end of the day there was a table full of dozens of well-deserved awards.... 30 winning cups, gleaming gold trophies and a gentleman who brought home over $400 in the 50:50 challenge.
