NOTE Agencies Request Public Assistance in locating 3 remaining suspects!
On May 21st, 2024, the Orange County Sheriff's Office, ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives), and Orange County District Attorney's Office conducted a joint multi- jurisdictional narcotics and firearms trafficking operation after a six-month long investigation... They named "OPERATION HOT LUNCH". The complex investigation uncovered illegal narcotics distribution organizations and an independent illegal firearms distribution organization, both tracing back to the same source, a food truck in the City of Newburgh operated by Kirkland Salmon.
This overall investigation to date led to the recovery of thirty-one (31) firearms, including handguns- with one being a "ghost gun," an assault rifle, and several long guns, over eleven and a half (11.5) kilograms of Cocaine, over ninety (90) grams of Fentanyl, eleven (11) vehicles, including one food truck and approximately $45,000 in US currency.
Lead Case Agent, Investigator John Kitsos, Orange County Sheriff's Office, adopted this case in November 2023. Realizing the magnitude of the case, Investigator Kitsos brought on a Senior Special Agent from the ATF and Investigator Michael Decker from the Orange County District Attorney's Office to assist. Sheriff Arteta said, "The success of this investigation was largely due to the dedication and cooperation of all 39 law enforcement agencies involved. These dangerous and illegal firearms cause havoc and devastation in our communities. The Sheriff's Office will continue to push resources toward combating these serious crimes and holding these criminals accountable."
At this time, law enforcement is requesting the public's assistance locating the remaining three (3) individuals who are wanted on charges stemming from this investigation.
Attached are the photos and charges of the individuals arrested during this operation including the three (3) outstanding individuals.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation by the police that a defendant has committed a violation of the criminal law, and it is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the State of New York’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
