MONROE – The executive director of Museum Village in Monroe said Tuesday that he is open to discussions about being bailed out by Orange County.
The living early American museum is facing serious financial problems with grants from government and charitable donations down over the past several years, said Executive Director Jamie Robinson.
While County Executive Steven Neuhaus has not been in direct contact with museum officials, his comments to Mid-Hudson News this week are “the beginning of a conversation, not the end,” said Robinson.
Neuhaus proposed that the county purchase the museum for $1 and operate it as a living county park.
Robinson said the organization is exploring a number of funding alternatives.
