Local Girl Scouts in Heart of the Hudson Earn Girl Scout Gold Award

Girl Scout Gold Award - the highest achievement possible in Girl Scouts of the US, equivalent to Eagle Scouts in the Boy Scouts

Village of Washingtonville The Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson received a Lifetime of Memories trip on June 7 when they went to their Gold Award Ceremony at the Muriel H. Morabito Community Center, 29 Westbrook Drive, Cortlandt Manor, in Cortland, NY

Achieving a Gold Award is an incredible honor, and the individuals have to

work tremendously hard to achieve it; for instance, a "Journey" requiring 80 hours of project dedication.

The Girl Scouts of America evolved to this highest level of achievement over nearly a century, as did their requirements for achieving each of the badges and awards that lead to it. The last time achievement criteria were adjusted it was decided to continue the Gold Award in perpetuity.
