Homeland Security Arrives in Monticello With "Gear"

MONTICELLO – A green armored military-style truck rolled into the Village of Monticello on Wednesday with the markings “HSI” – Homeland Security Investigations – painted on the door and a federal logo on the rear quarter panel.

A request for information from the Department of Homeland Security went unanswered, but there have been other reported instances of federal authorities coming into Mid-Hudson Valley communities in recent days, seemingly to detain immigrants believed to be undocumented.

No local authorities could provide information either; however, it is believed this vehicle, with its officers wearing riot gear and sitting on the rear of the open doors, might not have been the only different law enforcement vehicle in the village.
