Eagle Scout Project To Memorialize Beloved Local Dogs Presented in Washingtonville's Meeting Room

Washingtonville's new Village Hall Design shows a classic professionalism with the dark colors and simplicity. And, by the way, Mayor DeVinko shared that the stark black background in the meeting room will eventually be filled with photos of historic Washingtonville people and events.

Mayor Tom DeVinko and other board members were full of smiles and offers of assistance as they approved and vowed to support a proposed Eagle Scout project which was presented by Rory Finnerty. Losing a longtime pet dog is always very difficult, and Rory wants to do what some other pet-loving individuals have done to share their grief and recognition of the gifts that these animals have shared with us, along the lines of the "Rainbow Bridge" concept.. That is, to build a Memory Bridge at Vern Allen Park near the entrance of the Dog Park that will include donations of collars and harnesses of some local dogs who gave much love and beautiful memories to our Villagers. He is still working on some of the design details, and the reassuring litany from Trustees about whether some tools and help would be available, (of course, of course... from borrowing tools to design and safety recommendations) and offers to call them for assistance with any new elements was a beautiful representation of what makes Washingtonville such a close-knit and caring community.

Stay tuned for more details as this project progresses.
