Cold Wind Could Not Dampen A Happy Easter Celebration in Washingtonville

Vern Allen Park in the Village of Washingtonville was packed on Saturday with parents and children bundled up to buffer a very chilly breeze, with some of the littlest celebrants clad in heavy onesies and layers of snuggly blankets. Nevertheless Washingtonville is all about recognizing history, and taking advantage of opportunities to take a break from heavy workloads to visit with neighbors en masse, and this was an opportunity no one wanted to miss.

Brightly Colored Easter eggs Everywhere!

Time with one's best friend is very near the top of the list for Washingtonvillians. These 2 "besties" saw each other from across the field and were thrilled that they could enjoy the event together.

The littlest Easter explorer, with mommy just one step behind. For her size she certainly was covering a lot of ground...future track star?

The big field went wild with the Bunny and Eggstravaganza and every child carried their bag full of gathered eggs like they were made of gold. Meanwhile the line of pony admirerers grew and grew Celine and Coup de Ville were shined up and ready to give another step-up to the growing number of Village children building their horseback riding skills, and others being brave enough to take a first ride.

People lined up for their children to have pictures with the flashy Easter Bunny. This dad made it a selfie to make sure the picture would come out good.....(or did he just also want a photo with the Bunny.)

Celtic Valley Carriage & Farm was one of the top 3 Events

of the day- with Alanna Kiernan and Fran Levy putting smiles on dozens of children's (and their parents') faces.

Coup de Ville looked smart with a very fluffy hairdo and unicorn, and almost could be mistaken for a large stuffed toy. Alanna showed his beautiful little trot off, and he was so cute it was hard not to want to take him home.

Decorated as Unicorns the ponies were super adorable, and several of the children already showed they had some previous experience, sitting nice and straight and with toes pointed up. The ear-to-ear smile on the young fellow below tells the whole story.

This young rider is as happy and confident as can be, and my guess is that he is sure to be a future blue-ribbon equestrian

Just look at that line of people with kids wanting to have a pony ride.

As usual, Funnel Cakes were the food choice of the day, but with the cold weather the other vendors stayed busy too.
