Blooming Grove Approves PRELIMINARY Annual Budget - Workshop & Public Hearing Still to Come.

Following is the link to Blooming Grove's Preliminary Town Budget for 2027. It has been a mountain of work for the Supervisor, Deputy Supervisor and Board Members to assemble and there is still much to review and do before Final Approval. It includes a number of additions to the Town's Sports Programs, Latchkey, Camp and other Children's Programs and Parks. Please bear in mind that this budget takes a good hour just to skim through and that it will likely change next week when the Town Board holds its Monthly Workshop Meeting. After changes are made due to those discussions a Public Hearing will then be held, any resultant changes from public comment will be added before a vote on Final Approval, but it is certainly a thorough working document.
Preliminary Budget Document
While the Preliminary Budget was approved the Board unanimously agreed to decline the bid on Fuel since there was only one bid received. They agreed the bid was high (at $63,000) and considering that the added cost affects many Town Departments in addition to the Highway Department they will put it out for bid a 2nd time, with a closing date of November 4th when any bid must be submitted by 12 Noon.
Next Wednesday's (October 13 at 7pm) Budget Workshop does not generally allow for Public Comment. But letters to the Town are welcome, and there will be ample opportunity for verbal public comment when the official Public Hearing is set.
Please remember that this is a Draft.... a thorough working document. Also, a discussion of whether to renovate or rebuild the Town's Police Department Building (and whether to begin on it this year), was postponed until this document has a final review, as some board members had mixed opinions about the complexity of renovation vs. the cost of a new structure.
Check for an update next Thursday in next Week's Orange County Courier Journal.
