Well, rumor had it that someone might bring a snow machine to Washingtonville's Friday Fun Night at The Lot in the Village of Washingtonville, but no one expected it to provide a big blizzard. Just when the heat of the day tempered down a little bit the Indomitable Martha Barrera of Walden Savings Bank marched up in the Walden team's toy soldier outfit and the snow went flying, and flying and flying. The kids absolutely loved it and laughed, jumped and screamed with joy It was enough to cool down everyone and make them remember that this heat is temporary, and before you know it they will be getting out their sleds and waiting for Santa.

Oh, WAIT! Here's Santa now (well, one of his famous helpers). Not only did Santa come in a very Summery outfit, he arrived with a big bag of gifts for every one of the children.

Meanwhile, moms, dads, young couples and others, sat at tables under the pretty canopy and played games, chatted, watched the children and congratulated them on the tiny animal gifts they reeived..... beautiful, snuggly, and yet small enough to hold in a hand or pocket.

Then there was the ice cream social, real cotton candy, and the movie of the night which was fittingly National Lampoon's "Christmas Vacation". Some partygoers with young children left earlier, but others were having too much fun and stayed nearly till midnight.
