On December 08. 2023 at approximately 2:30pm Town of Newburgh Police began At approximately 2:15pm, the victim arrived at 54 Timber Ridge Road. A verbal altercation ensued regarding the victim being at the residence. It was alleged that during the argument, resident Prince-Rasheem Crawley, 30 years old, brandished a machete and that as the victim was retreating in his vehicle, Prince-Rasheem Crawley did strike the victim's vehicle, denting it. It was also alleged that a female resident, 36yr old Shantel Chiu, was in possession of a long gun during the altercation.
Police attempted to make contact with the residents, but were unsuccessful as theresidents were uncooperative. A large perimeter was established while police continued An incident command post was established and the Orange County Sheriff’s SOG Unit (Special Operations Group) was requested to the scene to assist. After a brief standoff and negotiation period, 5 occupants (3 adults, 2 children) were taken into police custody without incident.
Both Crawley and Chiu were arrested and arraigned before the Honorable Judge
Worden. Crawley was charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd, Menacing 2nd and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th. Chiu was charged with Menacing 2nd. Both defendants were released with an appearance ticket with a future court date.
